Madeira is the main island (740.7 km ²) of the Portuguese archipelago of the same name, situated in the Atlantic Ocean to the west African coast (Morocco), and that together with Porto Santo, the Desert Islands and the Savage Islands of the Autonomous Region of Madeira.
The Madeira island's capital of the autonomous  Portuguese region is the city of Funchal.
The island of Madeira has volcanic origin, its climate is subtropical with extensive exotic flora, is largely economically oriented to tourism.
